Written in 1967, immediately following the Second Vatican Council, this work is a news reporter's journal of the events, figures and intrigues of the Council.
Father Wiltgen was the director of the Divine Word News Service and observed the Council firsthand,
giving interviews to Council fathers and periti. In this book Father Wiltgen shows
how a very liberal group of bishops and theologians, including Hans Kung, silenced after the Council,
took control of the proceedings and gathered the forces to throw out all but one of the documents
originally intended for promulgation at the Council.
This book should serve as a wake up call to those who believe that the Second Vatican Council
was a cordial meeting and a celebration of Catholic unity.
