Purification of Vessels by Extraordinary Ministers
Is it permissible for extraordinary ministers to purify the sacred vessels after Holy Communion or after Mass?
According to the General Instruction: "The vessels are purified by the priest or else by the deacon or acolyte
after the communion or after Mass, if possible at a side table." (n. 238) The Notitae #238 adds that "The remarks on the priest, deacon and acolyte are applicable to a special minister who lawfully distributes communion."
