SACRED MUSIC is the oldest
continuously published music magazine
in the United States. It is the
continuation of CAECILIA, published by
the Society of St Cecilia since 1874,
and THE CATHOLIC CHOIRMASTER,
published by the Society of St. Gregory
of America since 1915.
Published quarterly by the Church
Music Association of America since
1964, SACRED MUSIC contains articles on
the history, theology and practice of
Catholic church music in strict accord
with the wishes of the Church and the
apposite norms of the ecclesiastical
hierarchy.
Reviews of music, books and
recordings are a regular part of the
journal's contents, as are
announcements of programs from around
the country, and an Open Forum column
of discussion and debate upon
topics of current interest to pastors
and church musicians.
